About Me

For those who don’t know me, allow me to make a brief introduction.  I am a native Pennsylvanian, born and raised in the city of Pottsville.  For the past five years, I have served on staff at Oakwood Baptist Church in Camp Hill. My wife (Kathy) and I have three children. I first felt called to be involved in missions while serving on the Board of Directors of To Every Tribe Ministries in South Texas. My role with Reaching and Teaching will be threefold:  leading cross-cultural teaching trips, helping develop partnership with both churches and individual teachers, and promoting the ministry through donor development.

About Reaching and Teaching

Reaching & Teaching International Ministries exists to reach the peoples of the world through evangelism and by meeting the great need for deep discipleship, pastoral preparation, leadership training, and theological education around the world. Reaching & Teaching was founded by David Sills, born out of the deep needs for discipleship and ministry training that he has seen in countries all around the world. This awareness of field based ministry needs coupled with his current work serving as a professor to those will be the missionaries of the future, led to the establishment of a ministry that will provide culturally appropriate discipleship and training for people groups around the world.

Reaching & Teaching seeks to encourage all of God’s people to go into all the world in order to faithfully obey all of the Great Commission. This is accomplished by sending career missionaries, facilitating and leading short-term trips to reach and teach the nations, as well as through training and mobilizing local churches. From missions involvement and training to short-term trips, Reaching & Teaching International Ministries is a resource for you and your church as you seek to understand how the Great Commission should be manifest in your life and church.

Reaching & Teaching is a non-profit organization and all missionaries and staff raise their own support so that each dollar given to the ministry goes to fund ministry. Donations given to Reaching & Teaching are tax deductible and are used for ministry endeavors that center around evangelizing those who do not know the Gospel and training those who have been reached to be able to reach and teach others.

The Need is Great:

  • Nearly 3 billion people have little to no access to the gospel message.
  • For every 450,000 people outside the U.S., there is only one formally trained Christian leader. In the United States, there is one trained pastor for every 235 people.
  • It is estimated 85% of the world’s 2.2 million evangelical churches are being pastored by men with little or no Bible training.
  • Even if every training institute in the world operated at 120% capacity, less than 10% of the unequipped leaders would be trained!

The Opportunity is Even Greater:

By God's grace, Reaching & Teaching has launched pastoral training centers across Latin America and the Caribbean. Our vision is to provide theological training and pastoral preparation all over the world.

Each training module lasts one week and is spaced throughout the year. These weeklong training modules occur at each site three times a for three years - a program comprised of nine modules altogether.

We train pastors in a variety of essential biblical and theological topics, seeking to provide them the tools to effectively proclaim the gospel and faithfully train others to do the same (2 Timothy 2:2).
